Care & Sizing

Finding your perfect fit and how to care for your jewellery.

Materials

For materials I have chosen to always opt for a pre-recycled option if there is one, however findings such as necklace chains, earring scrolls (the earring's back lock mechanism) and locks for chains are pre-made in 100% new solid silver or gold.

SILVERS

EcoSilver

I use nickel free 925 silver made from 100% recycled grains of silver (EcoSilver) and also fine silver 999, consisting of 99.9% pure silver for all stone impressions.

EcoSilver - Made from 100% recycled grains of silver, that have been melted down and formed into new solid silver. Produced using a totally traceable fully audited process. Ecosilver has the same quality, working properties and content as its untouched origin Sterling Silver 925 (92,5% pure silver). Origin: Europe

EcoSilver Solder – the joining component used to fuse the silver together - also made from scrap silver. Origin: Europe

All silver contains copper (the higher the number, i.e. 999, the smaller amount of copper there is) which will inevitably darken with time due to oxidization. The reasons behind this can be the minerals and salts secreted by the body or found in the air if you live in a humid environment. Copper is needed in the metal to foritfy the silver, as it will otherwise be very soft and prone to scratches. The tarnished silver can be treated using a specialist polish available at jewelers' or a tarnish removal cloth available in most online jewellery stores. (including this one: towntalk polishing cloth)

GOLDS

EcoGold

I use nickel free gold made from 100% recycled grains of gold (EcoGold).

EcoGold - Made from 100% recycled solid grains of gold, that have been melted down and formed into new solid gold. Produced using a totally traceable fully audited process. EcoGold has the same quality, working properties and content as its untouched origin. I use primarily 9K ecoGold in my designs (containing 37,5% pure gold), but since everything is made to order, I can make the jewellery in any karat you like (14K, 18K and 24K).

EcoGold Solder– the joining component used to fuse the gold together - also made from scrap gold. Origin: Europe

All gold contains copper (the higher the karat, the smaller amount of copper) which will inevitably darken with time due to oxidization. The reasons behind this can be the minerals and salts secreted by the body or found in the air if you live in a humid environment.

The copper alloy fortifies the gold, which is very soft in its purest form (24 karat), where the least amount of copper is present. The tarnished gold can be treated using a specialist polish available at jewelers' or a tarnish removal cloth available in most online jewellery stores. (including this one: towntalk polishing cloth)

general

Jewellery Care

  • Always keep your jewellery away from body lotions, perfumes and other products you put on your skin, as this may tarnish the metal.
  • Always remove your jewellery before taking a bath, swimming or doing the dishes.
  • Store your jewellery in a dry and soft place when not worn, to maintain the lustre and prevent scratches from forming.
  • Use professional cleaning agents when polishing your jewellery, taking extra care not to cover any beads or gemstones with it as it may be hard to remove.
